ScholarFits' flagship service is the Financial Aid Snapshot. It includes evaluating the student's potential eligibility for need-based aid and for merit scholarships. We estimate costs for colleges the student is considering, and add schools to the college list that will meet the student's preferences for an academic learning and living environment while also offering a wider range of cost options. We estimate the total cost of a degree over 4 years, analyze the family's resources to pay the cost, and identify whether debt may be required. If debt will be included, we advise whether the amount borrowed will be reasonable for the student and the parents. The result is to define the family's "Zone of Affordability," the maximum they can pay for a college degree while also planning for other financial goals including college for other children and retirement. The goal is for the family to be confident before the student commits to a college that there is a plan to pay for it while leaving the student and parents in a strong position after college.
