Description of Services : There is no one-size-fits-all in the college search and application process. Each student and family situation is unique. I work with students, sometimes starting as early freshman year, to help them choose appropriate classes, extracurricular activities, summer programs, jobs or internships, recommend test prep services and develop a testing schedule. We work on application strategy, identifying a balanced list of colleges to apply to and writing and revising application essays. I help identify merit scholarship opportunities for my students.
Description of Experience : I have been working with students, some starting before freshman year, to choose classes and encourage them to explore different activities both in school and outside of school to help help them identify their interests. I guide them to summer programs, internships, and volunteer opportunities in the community. I recommend test prep opportunities and help develop a testing schedule. Most my students come to me in their senior year and I help them with their essays and make sure they have a balanced list of schools they are applying to, including 'financial safety' schools. I encourage students to apply to programs where they may receive merit scholarships. Many of my students apply to the University of Washington which has very competitive admissions for certain majors. I work with my students to make sure they understand the process and the requirements for admission to impacted majors.
