Description of Experience : I have been mentoring young people and families through the college admissions process for over 14 years. I work with students of all interests and goals, but especially enjoy those who are seeking non-traditional learning experiences or hope to attend innovative, small liberal arts schools and/or pursue a gap year. My clients atend a diverse ranges of colleges such as UC Berkeley, Wesleyan, Princeton, Bennington, Goucher, NYU, University of Oregon, and the University of Puget Sound.
Additionally, I was a Principal/Teacher at the Alameda Community Learning Center from 2002-2010. I served as administrator of a 6-12th grade charter school and taught 10-12th grade English,including college advising for grades 10-12.
My practice is also informed by my work as a professional writer and storyteller and my years of experience teaching creative writing to students from middle school to college.
