Description of Services : I help guide high school students and their families through the college admissions process. My goal is to empower students to prepare an application that highlights their academic and extracurricular strengths in a focused and timely way. Services I provide include: Creation of an appropriate college list, preparation for college visits and interviews, advice on college essay, short answer and supplemental questions, and the creation of a student resume. I provide guidance on admission testing, high school course selection, extracurriculars, and summer programs or activities. Most important, I keep students organized and focused with a realistic timeline for every step in the college admissions process.
Description of Experience : I have been involved in the field of college admissions for 30 years. I earned degrees from Boston University (B.S. ‘79) and The Johns Hopkins University (M.S. ’86), and was employed as an admissions officer for New York University, University of Baltimore and Boston University. I also was a contracted application reader for American University. For the past 17 years I have worked as an IEC (Independent Educational Consultant) specializing in college admissions. I established Acton College Consulting in 2010, serving students in suburban Boston and from around the country. I offer seminars and workshops and speak regularly in the Northwest suburbs of Boston about the college admissions process.
